After a 100 rounds I cleaned mine and noticed that where gas piston is usaully welded or pinned to the bolt carrier there is a hole where you can see right through. The piston is has a little more wobble than most, but it does not seem to unscrew. There is also a hollow tube through that hole in the bolt carrier where normally I see a pin. Is this normal? Does any one else with 85c-2 have the same hole or do you have a pin in it. I am just trying to make sure that the pin did not come out when I was shooting it.
Thanks

There is a pin that needs to be installed in your bolt carrier that holds the gas piston like in the picture. It helps hold your gas piston in the bolt carrier.

Some people use a roll pin or even a nail in there. You need to try to peen the sides over so it won't work itself out and jam up your action. My advise: Just take the thing to a hardware store and tell the person what you need and they will fix up pretty cheap or go the KVAR route.

I wonder what the heck happened to the original. I hate to send it back to global trades and wait three weeks for a fix. I guess I will take it to home depot or something. I still wonder what the hollow pin in there is.
Thanks for the info.

Are you sure the "hollow tube" in your carrier isn't a roll pin?

Good point, I hadn't considered that.

Yes it does look like a pin, thats why I was hoping that someone with a ssr 85c-2 might chime in if they have the same thing. So if it is a roll pin Iam good togo?

I have roll pins in a few of my AK's and they work just fine.  You should be fine.
