[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Staining Stock?

Hi not sure if this is the right part of forum. But anyways I have a few ak style rifles wasr10s and stuff like that. Anyways I dont like the color of the stocks on some and want a nice redish walnut color.

Does anyone know what kind of stain i should use? Can you recommend any types and or colors?

Amber shellack. I think it is Behr brand. Very appropriate for Eastern Block weapons.

I know that wood and stains vary greatly depending on where rifles are from...but when you think of the classic AK47 what color do you see the stock as? I'm seeing it in my head as more a reddish color.
