First off, I'm not a big AK guy, I have a Yugo UF and that's it. I have always liked the looks of the Krink and would love to have one but I just ordered a YHM can in .223 and it's got me thinking.

I would like a Krink-like SBR AK that I could use my can on. This would put me into .223 or according to YHM I can put 5.45 through it. (I know, most of it is corrosive). I was thinking of SBRing a Draco before I ordered the can and may still go that route but I know they made the Champion that was .223 but seems impossible to find. My other thought would be start with an AK74 and have it shortened down but I don't even know what all this would entail.

If I do the Draco and forget about the can on it I want to do a side folder or underfolder but I know this would require trunion work. Who would be the best to do the work?

If I do a 74 and get it shortened down who would be the best to do the work and what all would it entail besides shorteneing, probably opening the gas port a little and getting it re-threaded in 1/2 X 28?

I also have a Golani that has run fine for me...perhaps this would be a cheaper option for me to get into an AK platform .223 SBR

So lets hear your ideas guys...TIA

look at the Arsenal 106UR. Factory krink in .223 w/ 16" barrel that can be SBR'd and you can have an adapter made for the can.

I looked at that and like it a lot but the price throws me on it unless I find one for a killer deal. Did I mention that I wanted to do this on the cheaper side as it was kind of an afterthought with the can, otherwise I will just SBR a Draco.

Thanks for the input and keep it coming. Who would be a good person to do the trunion modification on a Draco to add an underfolder or a sidefolder? Where's a good place to find a deal on a triangular sidefolder?

I agree.  That's by far your best and easiest option.
