Has anyone ever tried to strip the laquer off of ammo? I am aware that this might be a severly stupid idea. I have a Mini-30 that I do not want to run laquer ammo through, but laquer ammo is the only kind I can get my hands on. I don't have the cash to buy a case of Wolf or pay$9 a box for AE. I have the time and acess to the ammo.

Thanks

Where you at?  I have some of the newer wolf (no laquer) that I would be willing to trade with you.  I live way up north

Why not run laquered ammo through it?

I've never seen any evidence of the much feared laquer build up, and I've shot a LOT of laquered ammo through some very hot rifles.

My geuss is that anything you might use to stip off the laquer would likely soak into the primer and render the round useless.

I don't want to run laquer stuff through the rifle, talked to other mini owners and I don't want to risk it. I was just looking at the laquer ammo as stop-gap measure until I can get some more of my precious Silver Bear again!

I later figured that the laquer would be to tough to simply wipe off with a solvent soaked rag, and there is no way I'd ever saok my ammo in any liquids

Thanks though.
