I ordered one of the AK47 surplus accessory kits and had a few questions regarding the items. I searched both here and google but didn't find any answers.
1. What is the silver thing under the bayonet and above the oil bottle in this picture? 
2. How do I use the sling? I tried running the hook end through the end that attaches to the stock but it doesn't seem to fit through on either of my slings. 3. Any suggestions to soften up the leather mag pouch? Thanks. I'm loving the AK platform so far
