nearing the end of my Tantal build, I tried to assemble the rear folder, do I trim the metal spring bottom peice thing to fit, with it attached there is no way it will go into the rear of the receiver pic shows trying to attempt to insert into receiver and folder with metal spring deal, my thoughts were to trim a little off the bottom it still looks like it would be a real tight fit.......HELP...and thanks

A belt sander will help you out. Worked for me.

If it is no way near close then belt sander...if close then a block of pine on the deck, muzzle down with stock extended in the air, and a 3lb sledge to the buttstock. Works like a champ.

OK will try the beld sander, but I m gonna have to remove almost all the material it looks like maybe paper thin, tried to install with 1 piece of masking tapa and that scrapes the bottome of the receiver,if I take too much off, I can just dremel it the rest of the way off till it fits...........call me Hack Gunsmith on this one

In my experience with an OOW receiver the E.German stock would not fit.  These are thicker than the standard 1mm.  They fit fine with the 1mm receivers.

I wanted to say that but have no experience with the wire folders It looks like that would be easier then you could measure the amount of matrerial to be removed Right? Or is it just a sand /grind & fit deal here?

To quote someone who's never leader astray......Put the trunnion in...

a flat as mentioned above, but I also tried it in a OOW receiver I had laying around, thats actually what in the pic, and the height is still way off..........what rear trunion, a trunion installs a barrel to the receiver, there is no such thing as a rear trunion !!!

today I used a 1 inch belt sander and removed about 1/2 the material on the underside of the bottom spring thing, it still will not fit, I will still have to remove after a test fit to correctly allign and measure to drill the rear holes, so pounding it in is not going to be an option
if you look at the first pic the actual bottom of the folder ( the part that will eventually be inside the receiver ) what about removing some material from there to let the spring deal sit a little higher, I am worried  that the spring tension might be affected and the button for the folder will get messed up

ok if you install the rear TANG ( its not a trunion as stated before ) first, this would mean you have to drive out the 2 little pins holding the TANG to the floder....right......then tell me ...if it dosent fit even close now how are you going to wedge the folder in place and still be able to re-install the 2 pins from the tang into the folder

you dont need to put the pins in I didnt the screw holds it just fine
I an oow 5.45 rec and just had to sand the sides of the metal piece to make it fit
