Got a T6 stock for a Norinco recently and I really like it. Solidly constructed and good ergonomics. Bought some Tapco 20 rounders with it. Loaded 'em up full and manually cycled each one through all the rounds. Flawless. Got excited. Went to zero the weapopn and only loaded them 10 rounds each. Flawless. Got more excited. Went to the range later. Loaded up those mags to their 20 round limit.....
FTF, FTF, FTF, FTF, FTF,FTF.....then flawless. This happened with every mag and with 3 different brands of ammo. WTH? Those first 5 - 6 rounds just were not being pushed up high enough by the spring for the bolt to catch them up. I'm very dissapointed because I have heard a lot of reports about reliability with these mags. Anyone else have this problem? Am I doing something wrong? I'm going to post this on the Tapco forum also to seee if those guys have anything to say. But I would appreciate comments from other Tapco 20 owners.
Thanks

The mags have a lifetime warranty send it back get another sounds like a follower or spring issue.

Res45 is probably right about the spring.

But, before you send them back, take the mag apart, and make sure there isn't a small burr or piece of flash in the mag that might be causing the follower to hang up.  On one of my Tapco 20's you can hear a small "click" when loading round 16 or so, which is the mag going over one of these pieces of flashing.  This same flashing can hang up the follower, or keep it from getting the rounds in the correct angle to the chamber.

Also, when the Tapco 20's get fully loaded, they do buldge just a bit at the top.  Check to make sure it isn't rubbing to tightly against the magwell in the stock when fully loaded.  If the stock is squeezing the magazine, it could lead to a FTF as well.  Once a few rounds are out of the mag, the swelling is less, so it corrects itself.

A little sandpaper should do the trick for either one, just go slow.

jblomenberg16,
It's interesting you should mention the mag swelling because this problem applies to all five mags I have. I do notice that when I get over 12 or so loaded in, the rounds seem "loose" and not well-seated as I push them down. You think shaving the outside of the mag (so the well doesn't squeeze) might help the situation?
