My new G2 disconnector originally would not release the the hammer when trigger pressure was released. I gently filed the back edge (top) of the hammer to allow the disc. to release it. Problem now is the trigger doesn't catch the hammer fully on the undisturbed, not filed hammer edge and hammer drops when trigger pressure is released. Is it all FUBARED? What is the proper fix for original problem? TIA

Sounds like new hammer time to me.

Also, what make of rifle? It's possible that the real problem is in the location of the FCG holes in the receiver.

Yeah I figured as much. How did I change the geometry of the trigger to hammer fit? I can't see what changed.

It's a Saiga conversion. Hole spacing matches a NoDakSpud rec I also have within .007"

Try swapping FCG parts around between the 2 rifles. The only thing I can think of w/o see it is that there may be a tolerance stacking problem.

Tried that too. The altered hammer not working in any combo. Trips when trigger is released to unhook disc.

By removing metal from the top of the hammer you've created a condition where the disconnector releases the hammer before the hook on the trigger is in position to catch it.
If you think that fcg parts shouldn't be mixed (as I do after a few malfunctions from mixing parts) the fcg is trashed.
That being the case, you have nothing to lose, so you can attempt the following:
Remove some metal from the bottom of the disconnector at the front where it contacts the front part of trigger. The goal is to allow the disconnector to move forward slightly thereby reducing the distance between the diconnector and the hook. In theory this should work, in reality?
If you attempt this work slowly and check function often.
If you think you've solved the problem, fire at least ten shots (more is better) with only the chambered cartridge in the rifle. That way if there's a malfunction there's no chance you'll have a runaway rifle spraying shots all over the range.
Good luck.
