Will this keep both the trigger pin and hammer pin from walking out? Is there something better or something else I should look at thats out there?

It's fine.

But if you don't plan on changing the trigger group then just leave the stock shepherds hook in there.

The factory type wire retainer (shepards hook) is actually something better.

If you plan on removing the FCG every time you shoot, then get the plate. But if you don't ever plan on removing the FCG, then leave the wire retainer that's there, as the plate won't work any better. It just makes removing the FCG easier.  GARY  N4KVE

Just not sure if I am not installing it right after taking it down today to clean. Anyone know how the hook goes in on a Wasr

if it does the circle part is where ur safty is going to go through. then the rest will line up pretty easy.

No I don't have either right now, was asking if the plate would prevent the trigger and hammer pin from walking out. Took my rifle down today to clean and having problems with the pins walking out. I am most likely installing it wrong but i cant find info on how it goes back in on a wasr rifle

Will it prevent both pins from walking out? or just the trigger pin.

I use simple E clips from autozone.Get the correct size and the pins wont walk on you. They are very easy to install and cost @.30 each. They are very secure.

I find the plate holds my pins in tighter, taking any wiggle out of them. My Bulgarian hammer pin kept loosening up until I replaced the shepards hook with the plate, plus the selector locks the plate in tight. The plate is a good upgrade, not a gimmick.

E Clips are a terrible idea. The clips are designed to work in a groove which has sides which are parallel and are perpendiculer to the bottom of the groove. The grooves on the axis pins are round to fit the round wire retainer.
As a result of the mismatch, the clips will eventually break or "walk" off the pins.

Agree.  The E clips are a joke.

Wire works for me and has since '47. No reason to keep removing FCG anyway.

There are a few different types of wire retainers.  THis is how they go in...

To do it right, install the wire before you install any trigger parts of pins.  Get the wire in place, then install the trigger parts.  Just use a small punch or screw driver to push the wire down while you get in the pin in place.  It's really simple to use and works fine.  I'd bet money that the guys who think these are such a pain are trying to install them after they put the trigger in.  The trick is to leave it in and install the trigger parts around it.

Leaving it in removes all doubt about how to put it in. It also ensures that you never lose it.

The Chinese "L" wire from Tapco is one of the easiest to install and I like the spring tension the wire puts on the pin.

So far over 3000 rounds with the same E clips and not a problem with the clips as of yet. They may break at some point, but so far still tight with no movement.

Me too. 2 guns built by well known builders using E-clips, & many rounds later, still no problem.  GARY  N4KVE

Just wait boys. You haven't shot the rifles enough. BTDT which is how I know the E Clips fail on a standard axis pin.
BTW: Some years ago I bought some extended length axis pins from someone on this board. The pins are cut for E Clips. The clips work perfectly, because the groove is made for them.
ETA: When the trigger axis pin walks out things get real exciting, especially if the RO is a "Range Nazi".

Im sure they will fail at some point but i forgot to mention that i use 2 (3/16 ) E clips stacked onto each other so there is two clips per pin.The two clips are very tight on each pin.I do have some spare chinese hook springs that i may install when i tear down the FCG for inspection of the clips condition.
I agree the original hooks are probably best for the long haul. One of my chinese AK's has the original hook and the underfolder has the E clips.
