Ok, so i bought a NDS65 reciever from nodak spud, but my tapco double hook trigger doesnt work, even though they say its a double hook reciever, so i got the single hook, and they dont recommend that one either. Which trigger have you guys used in your AMD-65 builds? Has anyone had troubles with a tapco trigger in a NDS-65 reciever?

Who is "they say its a double hook reciever"?

You can fit a double hook trigger into a receiver that has one slot in the receiver bottom by cutting a second slot.

Try the single hook trigger in the AMD-65 rifle build. If you have a hammer follow malfuction, then go back to the website (www.nodakspud.com) and read the 'Troubleshooting' section that is linked from the NDS-3 receiver listing. The hammer follow malfunction can be cured by the hammer mod discussed in the Troubleshooting guide.

An Arsenal AK fire control group (single hook) is our choice. We sell them.

Tapco has a blurb about this on their product site for the G2 triggers:
www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?Id=7f8c130c-3761-48e3-9560-894e018c8330

Note: Some customers have experienced function issues with the NoDAK Spud “economy” receivers. Due to tolerance design of the NDS-3 and NDS-65 receivers, we do not recommend the use of G2 parts in those models.

They don't really say why that is (what they think is out of tolerance ranges), though, so it seems odd.

I have never built an AK, but I built a retro AR (M16A1) using a Nodak Spud lower, and it was great.

They don't say it is a double hook receiver but "We don't recommend the use of the Tapco G2 "single hook" trigger".  Ask them if you want to know why, I have found Harlan very helpful.

What that means is you can use the original trigger or as mentioned above (and what I do) is cut out another parallel "slot" for the double hook trigger so you can use that G2 double hook trigger.  I have built all sorts of firearms and my current addiction are AKs where I have used NodakSpud receivers for over a dozen builds with absolutely first class results.  I hope that helps.

By the way, if you want to unload that Tapco single hook, I need one.    Always looking to save a dime over retail, if possible.

WTF!?!?!?

My NoDakSpud NDS-3 AK Receiver was of FANTASTIC quality, fit, and finish!  I absolutely LOVE how my first AK build turned out!!!

VERY high quality receiver, and ZERO tolerance issues with it!  You've GOTTA LOVE IT when you slide the trunions into that NDS-3 and see that all the holes line up PERFECTLY!

It is from NodakSpud that comment about people having problems with it so don't be too worried about it, they are the ones who have posted that.

Actually, the quote I pasted in above was from Tapco's site.  I'm not sure if NDS agrees with it, and I'm guessing they don't...

It's in red here on the G2 single hook product sales page:

See NodakSpud's website it says essentially the same thing.

Did you cut an extra slit in the receiver for the 2nd hook?

My NDS-3 receiver Romy with double hook g2 works great! 1k rounds down range with no problems.
