| Recommendations on 7.62x39 ammo seems to be a lot easier to come by than 5.45x39. I have an AK-74 on the way and wanted to pick up a few spam cans of surplus 5.45x39 for it. I already know the surplus stuff will be corrosive, so need to cover that subject. What I want to know is if there is any difference which stuff I buy (Barnaul vs. Tula vs. Ulyanovsk etc.). If some shoots better (tighter groups / less malfunctions) than that is what I would be interested in knowing. Thanks. |

You mean there is 70 grain 5.45 out of a spam can? I thought the 7N6 stuff out of spam cans was all 53 grain. That's what I'm looking at buying . . . . . . . . mil-surp spam can ammo (5.45). I believe I have seen commercial Russian 5.45x39 in spam cans within the last few years. Cabelas is selling Russian ammo labeled "Herters" in spam cans now in 9mm, .223, 7.62x39, .45. Just because it is in a spam can doesn't mean it has to be surplus. |

Talk to Pat from Mean Metal Guns. He is in the first room, to the right as you come in the door, all the way down the first row to the right. He has the Microtech BullPup's and the Barret 6.8's. He has a crate underneath his table and has a sign on his table for $250.
Good Luck |
