[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Threading: How do you index threads?

I'm receiving my 14x1 LH kit soon, but I doubt the instructins even mention indexing. I would like the muzzle device, when screwed on, to be perfect with the plunger. The muzzle device should be straight in relation to the rifle.

Does anyone know a formula?

If your wanting the muzzle brake to get tight on the threads at the same time the plunger lines up, that wont happen. Even if it was tight, it would work itself slightly loose.

On the AK the muzzle device is indexed by the plunger pin and the notch in the muzzle device.
