| I just totally screwed up my trigger guard, it's not salvageable, one of the ears sheared off, so I need a new one. Are all AK trigger guards interchangeable? I know the Saiga's guard won't work, but what abou others? I'm doing a milled M70 underfolder build off of a CNCWarrior receiver. Sorry if this has been covered before, but I didn't see it mentioned in any of the sticky threads. I'm seeing a lot of trigger guards for sale, but the Romanian guards appear to be in much better condition than the one M70 guard I found; this is why I ask. |

Can't tell if this is a discussion forum or a EE forum. But for those reading and wondering there is a difference between the different trigger guards. Romanian trigger guards are a little more rounder and actually bigger from receiver to bottom while the Yugos are more boxy and not as big from receiver to bottom of trigger guard. This is apparent when installing a Red Star trigger, the trigger itself needs to be trimmed (even when you order the "Yugo" FCG). It is about 1/8" that needs to be trimmed just so the trigger will clear the bottom of the trigger guard. Nothing needs to be trimmed on a Romanian trigger guard. While in the original question it is suggest the Romanian trigger guards are nicer/better quality that is not true. The Yugos built their AKs like tanks and that goes for the trigger guards as well. I hope this answers the question even if this thread gets locked for being more of a EE post. |
| I didn't say Romanians were built better, I was saying I searched all day for a Yugo trigger guard and the only one I found looked like crap while the Romanian ones looked brand new. Thanks for the clarification though bud. I wasn't looking for it to be an EE post, but that's the way it turned out. |

As the problem was immediately solved I believe he chose his forum wisely.
The Yugos are better built, but, the geo-political situation was complicated enough that weapons did not remain unused in arsenals, and the good condition ones were unlikely to be surplussed out. Our government has paid particular attention to the Serb factory on at least one occasion. So it is good to know that its current products consitantly maintain its established reputation. DB |

Just to clarify, there have been some negative response by monitors when some one makes a deal outside of the EE. I just wanted to take the oppurtunity to point out that there really is a difference between different countries parts. I didn't mean to put anything/anyone down, I'm hardly ever about being negative, just wanted to take advantage of the oppurtunity to answer the question. |
