Try pulling the trigger back and at the same time pushing down on the disconnector.

On Chinese rifles I have needed to rotate the selector lever counter-clockwise.  On some rifles you may need to file the selector lever shelf slightly to clear the disconnector, the safety function of the selector works by preventing the movement of the trigger by connecting with the trigger leg an preventing it from moving.

Before ever removing your fire control group you should take of the top cover and familiarize yourself with how the group functions and move the selector lever into different positions to see how everything works and how the original parts fit.

If you find you need to rotate the lever counter-clockwise you will need to pull the lever out away from the receiver to clear the rivets.

I figuered it out. I have the retaining wire that wraps around the selector. It has a loop at the forward/mag end. I just hooked a curved pick around it and moved it enough to get the hammer out. Then was able to remove the pressure and the trigger pin so I could get it out. All together now and seems to be all good. Now I'm all 922(r) leagal. Woo Hoo!!

I just wanted to double check the retaining wire placement. Sorry for the crapy drawing. MS paint isn't my thing.

Not sure about your pic, but here's the diagram from the FCG removal link above:

None of those show the wire I have. It wraps around the selector lever then goes straight down up over the trigger pin then under the hammer pin. That's how it was when I removed it. I'm just checking to make sure it's in the right position.

Your picture is correct AK47CBR.  That wire type is usually not difficult to work with.  If some one is making their own wire, it's the style I would recommend too.  The plates come highly recommended too.  I use a home brewed wire.
