Bought a Saiga AK off the EE here (.223 that is basically set up like a galil).

The trigger doesn't reset.  The tapco trigger in it looks like it was pulled from another gun that had a heavy paint camo job.  It's pretty gunked but I don't think that is the issue.

I think maybe the spring is not heavy enough to reset when the trigger is released....

Here's what happens.

PULL and HOLD back trigger.

Gun FIRES

While continuing to HOLD trigger you slowly release to allow the catch on the hammer to clear the trigger and reset for firing.  Trigger STAYS in place.....no movement.  Hammer stays caught on trigger.

Should I smooth up the trigger/hammer catch?  Or get a stronger spring?

Take the FCG apart and strip all the old paint off. If you happen to wind up with shiny metal then give it a light coat of black finish of your choice, gunkote, duracoat, etc.

While you have it apart check for any burrs or roughness on the engagement surfaces in question. Be careful if you start polishing/altering the FCG or you may end up with something that could land you in club FED !!

If I'm understanding you correctly I had a similar problem with my M70AB2. All I did was dry fire it and push the trigger back forward until it went forward by itself, mine just needed to be worn in. YMMV.

Thanks for the heads up...im having a similar problem and was thinkign about doing this and that hadn't even crossed my mind.

To the OP, mine is acting exactly like yours.  I have oiled it a bunch and continue to dry fire it and it seems to be getting a lil better!

Assuming your fire control group is installed correctly, I have an idea of what it could be.

My very first Tapco G2 fire control group that I installed had a similar problem.  I would load up and pull the trigger.  The rifle would fire and cycle the action; however the trigger would stick in the rearward position.  I would manually have to push the trigger forward to reset it before I could shoot again.  It happened over and over.  I got home and noticed that there was a little tube that came with the G2 which I had neglected to install.  That little tube runs through the trigger and disconnecter.  I installed the tube and the problem completely went away.

Here is a set of instructions on removing and reinstalling the FCG to make sure you have it installed correctly:

Make sure the back part of the trigger isn't rubbing on the top front edge of the pistol grip. Had this with the Tapco SAW grip. Just filed it back.
