[ARCHIVED THREAD] - UTG side scope mount

Has anyone mounted a UTG scope side mount on their AK. I have a Polish AK without a side mount and see that UTG has side mounts that you can mount with a few allen screws. Wondering if anyone has had any issues doing this. Thanks

the older UTG rails using allen screws are garbage. their newer UTG Pro rail is much nicer. I bought one of the UTG Pro MTU16 rails on a whim. quality is on par with the Midwest Industries rail and is made in USA.

I have a newer UTG and like it. I bought another one that was quick release and it seemed like crap metal garbage.
The UTG mount seemed solid and works well in my opinion. Great price too

Are you talking about this:

If so, that mount doesn't work with all mounts. RS says their mount will walk forward due to the slope on the rear. I had already mounted mine and had to do some adjusting on it:

I'd recommend going a different route. Those are both the same plate. The bottom one is on my rifle and the back end of it has been milled down so the scope mounts that index in the rear have a flat surface to lock against. If you will go up and look in the Pay It Forward folder in this forum, I have a plate that I'll give you if it is what you need...
