| This is the story everywhere, this cant be the first you have heard of it. I have 2 local funshops, both always carried lots of AK's and AR's, you walk in now and those racks are empty, same goes for the ammo. Its pretty sad so many people waited for the election to buy. |

Classic arms is a great company and they're great to work with. Too bad it's so difficult to get through on the phone. I did like having them 500 yards from my house, until the recent price shift. Ben is cool to deal with, but pretty soon you won't deal with him. He just sold the shop. He will be there through the transition, but I think that the pricing will no longer be under his control. |

In the big picture, $20 for a quality AK mag still seems pretty cheap to me.. people have just been spoiled by the plethora of nice surplus mags in the $10 range in recent years. Take a look at handgun magazines, for instance.. what do you pay for that piece of plastic in your Glock?
In short, we're all lucky that former communist states vastly overproduced these items.. can you imagine what a basic metal AK mag might cost, if they were being produced new in a first-tier economy like the USA? If it really comes down to the shitty, $20 will seem like a sweet, distant memory. -L |

But christ, $20 AK mags, no f'in way. I don't blame them one bit. If you're selling stuff so fast you can't even handle the order taking, you're pissing off customers and running out of inventory, jack the prices up a bit and slow things down. I remember Josh Newton building AKs for people on here. He did great work and was dirt cheap. He got flooded with orders, couldn't handle them, and never raised prices. Duh, raise prices, slow orders, and manage a business. |

| I guess since I haven't been on the AK scene as long as the rest of you, I don't know how much he used to charge compared to now. What I know is, I've bought stuff form him WAAAAY cheaper than I could get it for around here, and that's all I care about. His prices still seem fairly reasonable, that's a great price on Tapco mags, worth picking a few up just to see how they are. Price for that 700 round can of 7.62 is $230 at a local store vs $170 from him. I'm not complaining. |

After New Years the unemployment rate will be much higher and there will be lots of people selling guns at a LOSS. You can't EAT AKs and MAGS. ![]() Finally someone who makes sense. All the bubble heads who believe "this bubble is different". They said the same about dot bomb. The same about real estate. The same about mortgage debt...and the same about oil at 160/barrel. Want food or gold (currency), give me your AKs :) |

All I know is I got into this game later than most of you. Bought a S-12 from them a few weeks ago and while not the 250 buck hay day of past, it was 519 which is cheaper than anywhere else I was looking. Just got her today as a matter of fact. |

I'm not trying to climb on anyone's case here personally, but I am having trouble with the fact most shooters and gun owners didn't see this thing coming like a hurricane gaining strength? I, like many, voted for McCain, and even believed he would win, at least early on and mid way through the campaign.
With that said I, like many, underestimated the stupidity of the American voting public. Then as the election grew nearer, it became apparent to me Hussein was going to be the guy. I have many AR-15 rifles that I've purchased in the last 4 years since the AWB sunsetted, but no AK-47's. On Wed. October 29th, 6 days before the election, I made the decision to purchase 2 of them. Money was tight, (I had just bought and paid for a new pool filter and a new dishwasher), but I didn't like what I saw in the future. I spent the better part of a day, and drove over 100 miles checking out what was available in all of the local gun shops, which Phoenix has a great many of. By 4 P.M. that day I had purchased 2. I knew if the communist won they would go real fast. They did, and in checking many of the same shops which had dozens of AK-47's and AR-15's at good prices just 7 days earlier, there were zero to be had. This insanity has gotten worse by the hour. None of it surprises me, except for the fact how stupid the voters were in this election. The Lemmings voted gun rights, along with countless other freedoms down the toilet, to shove a politically correct, gun grabbing, minority idiot into the Presidency. Now, gun owners are asking where to buy EBR's, and shouting from the roof tops to, "Write your congressman!" All of a sudden everybody is chanting, "Join the NRA NOW!" No one is bitching about the junk mail and the phone calls at dinner time now, are they? Overnight the NRA suddenly became the gun owners best friend. Now, with the communist put into the drivers seat by these idiots, there is little doubt in my mind EBR's, gun shows, private gun sales, along with God knows what else will be gone forever shortly. We are in for 4 of the roughest years gun control wise this country's ever seen. Now, all of a sudden, people are scrambling like cockroaches on a kitchen counter to buy them, along with whatever ammunition they can get their hands on. Makes me wonder how prepared many of them are for the upcoming economic crash. The Dow is bouncing up and down like a basketball on a concrete floor. Bouncing lower and lower each time. I hate Hussein, but fear the American voter who put him there. They bought into socialism thinking something was to be gained. They never thought of what they are now going to lose. I'm sorry, but I have no sympathy for gun owners who had 4 years to buy these guns, and now complain about availability and high prices. Just like Katrina victims, they had plenty of warning, and did nothing until the storm hit. Bill T. |

The thing that I find the most unbelievable about this page is the fact that in this day and age there is someone that thinks it's acceptable website design to PUT ALL TEXT IS STUPIDLY LARGE FONTS AND ALL CAPS!
Hell man I'd be willing to make them a website for free just so I don't have to look at it. If they had an e-mail on the website I'd e-mail telling them as much. Actually if anyone knows the guy(s) from classicarms and wants to get in touch with them for me tell them I'd gladly make them a nice easier to navigate website. |

About the last thing I would worry about is finding a dealer who had guns and magazines in stock at fair prices, then bitch and moan about the size of his text! | I have to agree with Bill T. This whole Obama election and ensuing gun/ammo buying panic has been a slow train coming. My crystal ball is no clearer than anyone else's, but several months ago it became a distinct likelihood that Obama was going to get elected. We all knew that if he was elected it would create a run on gun and ammo buying because of the impending legislative restrictions we can expect from him being elected. Now, everyone who didn't plan ahead (i.e., buy guns, ammo, mags) in anticipation of Obama being elected are stuck with limited availability and paying high prices. Yes, the dealers are raising their prices almost daily. If one doesn't like the prices, one can hold onto one's money and hope that this will pass. But remember, at the onset of the Great Depression there was a run on banks by people who wanted to get their cash. Those who were first in line were about the only ones to get their cash, everyone else went without. |

Picking the fly shit out of the pepper a bit, aren't we???? Bill T. no their site does look rediculous and could use better orginization. Correct. If I see a good deal on a website that looks generally sketchy I become very... cautious. A nice professional or at the very least organized looking website would go a long way. Not that he needs it given his current sales but still it couldn't hurt things. At the very least getting rid of the ALL CAPS would be a huge plus because A) All Caps is bad etiquette on the net, it's considered screaming and B) All caps is hard to read. It's a proven fact, studies have been done. At least his font has serifs so it makes things a bit easier. And here I am offering up my relatively limited HTML skills for free, so it's not like I'm saying "He should go pay hundreds/thousands of dollars to make it unugly." I'm saying the nerd and the good Samaritan in me are teaming up and making me want to improve that website a little. Just because it's gunpocalypse 2.0 doesn't mean we can't make the effort. |
|
I don't see what the problem is with his website. The fact I don't have to waste time searching all over to see what he has in stock seems like a positive attribute to me. He doesn't even carry that much variety of items, how are you honestly going to redesign the website? Click Here For Our AK Section (all 3 different styles we carry) Click Here For Our Ammo Section (For the 3 different calibers we have). Click Here for Ugly Pistols from Russian Nobody Wants (seriously ugly). And so on and so on, like every other website on the net. **YAWN** I like a website were I can just scroll down the page and instantly see everything they have in stock and don't have to click all over the place to see what's in.
Just think of Classic Arms as an AK-47. It's ugly, plain, functional and easy to use.

Has anyone here had experience with the 40 round Bulgarian, poly mags that are being sold on this site? They will be going into a WASR 10. I purchased 6 of the Bulgarian Steel Ribbed Back 30 round magazines from them a few days ago. They provided me with a UPS Tracking Number, and they should be here next Monday. I also purchased 5 of the 30 round Bulgarian Polymer "Bullet" type magazines from Natchez. These I'm pretty sure, are the same kind Classic Arms is selling in a 40 round version. The ones I got fit and run good. I haven't used them enough to comment on longevity, but so far, so good. Be advised these do not have the steel feed lips like the Bulgarian "Waffle" type magazines do. Bill T. |
