I am wanting to buy a Yugo underfolder AK, however I am having trouble finding a place to buy one.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I'd really like to have an underfolder in 5.45x39 if such a thing exists, or even if it would be possible to build one I could go that route also. Thanks in advance for the help.

Unfortunately, you've kind of missed the boat on the Yugo M70AB2 rifles.  At least the less inexpensive ones, now.  Keep checking the sale boards as they pop-up once in a while.  The ones Century now offers have been modified to fit in a standard AKM-style receiver instead of the dedicated Yugo-type receiver with the reinforced "bulged" sides on the receiver.  You may have to look on some of the auction sites, as well, but they're getting much higher by the week.

With the exception of some Russian prototypes and some odd-ball variants, there's no real 5.45 underfolder.  However, a few members have built them.

OTOH, underfolders look cool, but are pretty miserable to shoot. The AK-100 type sidefolder locks up tight and is as comfortable to shoot as a fixed stock. It's pretty much the superior option, from a usability standpoint. BSW

I know all about wanting an AK underfolder. I missed the boat on the 94 ban and the $299 Norinco's but in 05 I bought an underfold Vector. I wanted an underfold so bad I didn't bother with ergonomics, but as stated above they absolutely suck at shoulder aimed fire.

By suck I mean they will leave bruises after shooting it awhile. They are not comfortable by any means. While I'm not giving mine up any time soon, I certainly wouldn't buy another underfold. Just my .02, ymmv.

Good luck.

Well, I had no idea the underfolders were that uncomfortable to shoot.  However I would probably not be shooting it all that often anyhow, but I may just have to give up my dream.  Is there any place to get a reasonably priced AK chambered in the 5.45x39?

Do you have access to a time machine that can take you back 3 months? Prowl the EE here and gunbroker.com to find somebody that's dumping their 5.45x39 AK. Be aware that I've seen more than a few reports of Polish 5.45 rifles made by CAI that have problems with keyholing.

Good luck. BSW
