So i bought a new VEPR. Had piles or 762 and AK mags around so figured i might as well have a gun to shoot them with right? The thing i am down to now is handguards and have a few questions. If i want to go with AK looking hand guards i am going to need a bolt on handguard retainer. DPH and Dinzag both have one, anyone have experiance with either? I think i like the DPH because of the set screw its alot like the Carolina shooters supply one for the saiga. AK handguards would also need to be dremmeled a bit for the bigger barrel. Then there is the Texas Weapon System VEPR hand guards but i am not sure about the exposed piston at the end. IF there is a way to get somthing in there I WILL find a way.. Any other suggestions or ideas?

I'm using the CSS vented tube on my .308 and love it.  Very high quality and rock solid on the rifle.  Just throwing it out there as another option.

I was just looking at those. Didnt realize that he made a VEPR one! It seems that the Ultimak rail would be out as it might interfere with the handguards, but thats what dog legs are for i guess right? (if you havent guessed I am a red dot loving *&^%) hows the weight? Do you think it would make a 762x39 to front heavy? Wish i could see your pic, I hate the filters here at work. Ill try and check this agian when I get home.

I've got the CSS as well. It is very light, probably lighter than the factory wood.
