I started this thread for atlantic to get some feedback from us for what they should ask to see in the VEPRs in the future. Lets keep it clean and no trolling please, This thread is not to attack anybody. Were trying to go forward with this. As stated many times before, i would like to see some Hicap .308 mags, 20 or maybe even 30 rounders.... I also would like to see some standard furniture on these rifles. as to give people the option to tactify them. Nothing would make me happier than to see and SBR, .308 "krink" with sidefolding triangle stock and the option to slap a foregrip with a picatinny botton rail, for adding a pistolgrip, and dont forget the silencer! Tell them that if they could offer standard furniture at a reasonable cost.....VEPRs would probably be the top selling AK in the country. If they could bring em in and you sell em in a normal configuration, at a reasonable, Or better, LOW cost like they do the saigas. They would make alot of money... |

call me crazy, but I REALLY like the turkish walnut stock of my 308. I if they offered a basic Vepr I, 20" barrel, wood stock, with 20 round mags in 308, 5.56, and 7.62x39 (and maybe a flash hider) I would be all over it baby. The walnut thumbhole stock is classy. I would call it equal to the SVD or Tigr. Solid, Rich, Accurate, Reliable. Offer a second line that has high quality black polymer AK style or Dragonov type buttstock and a Vepr II or Saiga style handguard. The goal should be a simple, elegant, super quality rifle, a rifle that stands apart both visually and philosophically from the other AKs on the market. Let the Romanians build crap AKs that have to be ground out to take regular mags. The blaster crowd can have their Romaks and WASRs and all the Tapco uber tacticool doohickys. For the love of all that is good, DON'T put an AR telestock on it!

Ditto, fits and handles great. Just needs some FAL-ish vents and foil lining. And ACE seems to have the angled rear adaptor covered. So just what are the differences between Saiga and VEPR that keep the new 20rnd Saiga .308 mags from working? IMHO the HBAR nature of the VEPR makes it more suitable as a Drag clone or RPK. |

FYI, I will be meeting with the Russian Vepr rep on Jan 11 -12 th to discuss the wish list of changes for Veprs in the future, if you have any other ideas please let me know, also the first small shipment of unconverted units are in the country but will not begin to ship out until late Jan. Feel free to call me if necessary 410 352 5183. Blaine Bunting Atlantic Firearms, llc |
That's a very good point. While RA had alot of problems, their conversions were high quality. Imagine if it had been Century doing the conversions (if it's Tromix then it will not be an issue). |

For the 20" Barreled rifles - Drag stock and forearm not just the stock. A flash hider would be nice also. For the Carbines - Square ended reciever and stadard forearm so you can use other options however I am still one of those nuts that like what Robinson did with the furniture. LOL If you could put standard furniture on these and have a Drag model they would sell like crazy if they were priced in line with other AKs. If they were priced like a Krebs KTR which was a fantastic rifle every body would like them but not a whole lot of people would buy them. The Drag furniture would be easy for the Russians to do because I have seen pictures where they have already done it so no new molds should be needed as with the standard furniture. The Vepr would be the #1 best selling AK in the quality AK bracket. They were starting to realy take off before they dried up. |
