I just bought a couple VZ-58's from Centerfire, and I was wondering if there was any info out about building them and if anyone had blueprints for the receiver? (the search turned up nothing)
Any help would be appreiated, thanks.

kncook: I do have a cnc mill, so I'd really like to find a set of quality blueprints, just didnt know if anyone had ever bought a set of them.

raysheen: cool, I'd really like to mill the receiver so it'll look original (always good to have a fallbak plan though), but those stock sets they have look awesome. So I'll probably end up ordering the oak for my fixed stock, and the walnut for the folder.

Thanks guys, keep the help coming.

Centerfire is selling new milled receivers with a sporter stock for @$470.  It's in the new products section, I think it's a single stack though.  Over at Weaponeer.net a guy named Panaceabeachbum (a real master machinist/builder) was working on getting Vz-58 repair sections approved, might be another less expensive way to go.  These sections would be much like the repair sections used to complete the milled Yugo RPK kits.    Good luck, the vz-58's kits are a steal, just may take a little longer to find stuff to build them with.

Thanks for the help!

raysheen: Thats cool, I'll probably email him and see just how much of a receiver his plans cover (if they have you weld the 'trunnion' part from the kit to the new receiver part or if its a whole new receiver).

1turboturtle: Thats cool to know. I'm mostly trying to save time in reverse engineering the receiver. Once I have useable prints, I can program the mill to cut them, and then have my father heat treat them where he works (so the cost would be pretty low, just time and the steel).

So far, the work will take the most time, as all your help is saving me a bunch of time looking for this info, so thanks again.

The prexis receiver possibly has some SERIOUS problems.  They will not answer emails about the type of steel used, aledgedly it is 1018 (mild) and if true would be dangerous to use the locking lugs on it.  There is a post about a guy who used this kit (he claimes) and nearly had a catastrophic failure.  I hope prexis steps up and clarifies these issues.  I have examined a kit first hand and did notice numerous differences from the plans.
I have gpdaves blue prints and they work. I have made sideplates from gpdaves plans (with some mods) and they are going together very well.  I have no doubt you can make a full receiver from them.

VZ58:
Thanks, I wondered if anyone had had experiance with the prints available.
I also am not sure of prexis's receivers, their pictures and info on the use of their receivers is a bit questionable to me and I have read quite a bit about problems with their receivers (although I have yet to see anything about their other products). I'll definatly check out the gpdaves ones. Thanks again.
