So I've put my AK-74 on order and have started to get my a few aftermarket parts in (I've dialed back some of my conversion plans and decided that I'll let a gunsmith do it for me later on), in anticipation of my rifle arriving. One of the pieces I've ordered is Texas Weapons Systems dog leg top cover/rail replacement and now I'm looking for a decent quality inexpensive red dot sight. The two I've been looking at are the Vortex SPARC red dot scope and the Vortex StrikeFire red dot sight. I've seen a few reviews on these sights and they appear to be a pretty good bang for the buck but I was hoping someone here might be willing to share their opinions and experiences with these sights. Thanks in advance...

Vortex makes some excellent and highly uderrated optics.  Their Viper PST line of scopes are an outstanding selection of optics for those folks looking for a precision rifle scope in the $500 - $750 range.

The StrikeForce is great.  As weird as it sounds, I think that one of the things that keeps this optic from being more popular is it's low price.  Folks look at the price and don't believe that it can be a good optic for that cost.

I have less experience with the SPARC, but plan on changing that.  I just ordered one for my Arsenal Inc. SGL.  I'll put it through it's paces and report on what I find out.

I like my SPARC, just got a strikeforce green/red dot, love it too, no experience with the rest of their stuff

the unlimited lifetime warranty is awesome too

I got a red/green StrikeFire about 6 months after they were released. I was impressed with the sight over all but was wishing that the dot would be brighter. Here in the desert southwest(Az) the sun gets very bright. When I had a problem with the sight not shutting off I returned it to Vortex and asked if I could get one of the newer red only sights instead of the red/green. They were very accommodating and shipped me out the red only version which is much brighter then the red/green. The customer service I received was outstanding! I am one very happy shooter with the new red only version of the StrikeFire.
I have no experience with the Spark, but I would think that the quality is comparable and the great customer service is worth alot!

I have had my Strikefire for a few years now and its going strong.  I think I might put one on my SAIGA 5.45 also.
