| I have a WASR 10/63 I bought in 2003, it came with no muzzle thread and no bayonet lug . I got a guy a few years ago to thread the barrel and now I have a muzzle device on it and want to get a bayonet lug on there. Idk if I’d buy from Apex, since it says the bayonet lug may be dented, and you’re buying it to make use of the lug. This link: https://www.desertfoxsales.com/AKM_Gas_Block_With_Bayonet_Lug_p/dfs-296.htm states theirs is 15mm I.D. so measure your barrel’s O.D. and make sure that’s an appropriate diameter before you order. Idk if Romania had variations on their gas block journal diameters or not. The odds are low that your pin holes will line up. You may have to TIG weld the area(s) and re-drill, which is tricky. If you’ve got access to a TIG welder that skilled, you’re probably better off just doing a weld build-up where your lugs are ground off on each side, and re-fitting with files (or a mill). That’ll probably be easier than pressing off your front sight base and gas block, and then re-attaching both, even if you get lucky enough that one of the 2 gas block pin holes happens to be in alignment. *Disclaimer: I’ve never done this exact project.

| Either one of those gas blocks will get you what you need. I have welded on bayonet lug ears and ground them down to finally get the fit needed. And I have pressed off the FSB and Gas block to install a surplus one with a bayonet lug sometimes need to replace the FSB also if the cleaning rod holder is not proper, and also thread the barrel while I had the FSB off, just makes it easier and you get more threads. If you have a press this would be the best way. Don't worry about the pin holes you will line them up during the pressing process and then chase the holes with a drill before setting the pins. Mic your pins don't recall for sure but I believe ~ .120 thou. # 31 bit You know when you got the holes right, the pins should drive in with some effort but not like be impossible to go or start to bend while driving them. Use the same bit if your hand drilling run it in out a few times. And you should get some new pins for the gas block and FSB. AKOptions also sales gas blocks and such.. |
