I'm on my way to the store to pick up a dremmel.  Then I'm coming home to start cutting.  I've seen the how to guide in the Romanian forum.  Any helpfull hints or cautions I should be weary of?  Someone once said something about the trunions being different so the mags wouldn't work.  Any info on this?

Also, as long as I take out the FCG bolt and everything else, will it be legal until I get my 5 US made parts in the mail?  I have a SAR1 already so I can shoot that until the WASR gets the American parts.

It may be possible that your rifle has a front trunion that was designed to be used with single stack mags only, and it may be possible to modify it. The other option is that it has a standard double stack front trunion, and all you have to do is open up the well.

I don't really think the ATF or anyone else is going to wander in for a random inspection unless you give them reason to, but when I was working on my Maadi single stack conversion I had the same problem. My parts were long in coming and so I ended up just leaving everything dissasembled until I knew I had right # of parts. I think you'll be okay.

How do I figure out whether the trunion is for single stacks only or if it will accept high cap mags before I start cutting?  If it would take cutting the trunnion I think I'd rather not run the risk of messing up the gun.  Granted it was only $150 but I'd rather have a $150 single stack than a $150 paper weight.

Well you need to look at the trunion. does it look like a standard mag would fit?
Measure it if you have a standard trunion.

Anyone know offhand if the RSA double hook trigger would fit in a WASR10?  I heard something about sometimes you need to do a little dremelling for clearance.  As well, I don't need to go high tech, should I just save money and go G2?

WASR's come with reciever cut to accept single-hook triggers.  Double will work, but you'll have to dremel an extra little notch in the reciever.  If you're already hacking the magwell open, no big deal at all.  I still don't much understand the fascination for an extra hook on the FCG though.

Anyone know of a probably-not-so-much-easier but dremel-less way of opening up the magwell.  Dropping $70 on something I wouldn't use again or for a while doesn't really fit in the budget.  Not so sure they'd like me bringing a firearm into the school anytime soon.

Get a cheap chinese POS from harbor freight.  Not as refined as a true dremel, but like you said, youll never use it again.

I compared my WASR10 with my SAR1.  The bottom face of the bolt that strips the rounds off the mag is narrower on the WASR10 than the SAR1.  Should this be a problem if I convert it to use double stacks?  I'm just checking every option before I mess up a rifle.
