I just recently bought another WASR 10, and i inspected everything before i bought it, to make sure everything was straight. Sometimes, when firing it, the bolt carrier would not go all the way forward into battery. Its almost if it were sticking on something, and was very hard to clear the round. This happened 4 or 5 times with each 30 rounds. I took the rifle apart, and there was no sighn that it was hitting or rubbing on anything. I then took the bolt carrier from a spare "G" kit that i have, and fired 120 rounds without a single issue, so its obviously a problem with the bolt carrier. My question is, does anyone know what causes this, or how to correct it?  Most of my AK,s are Chicoms and Yugo's, and i have never had this problem before.

I had this same problem with my wasr when I first bought it. It is super frustrating, but it probably just needs to be broken in. keep shooting it and give the chamber a good scrubbing.
It sucks at first, but if that is the problem you will eventually have a good rifle. |
| yeap piston wobble, or rather, the lack thereof is causing the carrier to bind in the upper handguard. your piston is welded to your carrier eliminating the needed wobble. for most Romies, this is not an issue, for some it is. take OFF the upper handguard tube and run it w/o it. I bet it works fine. solution is to get a carrier that has wobble or drill out the piston from your carrier and re-pin & not weld so it has wobble. |
Yeah, i believe that may be the problem. I went out and shot it again today with the carrier from the "G" kit, and it ran flawless. I didnt really notice it earlier, but the piston in the carrier that came with the rifle is welded in, whereas the G-kit piston has a little wobble in it. I really dont understand why Century welded the piston, though. I really appriciate the advice!
