| Read about one in a gun magazine and thinking of picking one up. Anyone have any plinking experience with one? Also, where can I find one reasonably priced? Thanks, any info would be helpful. |

The WASR 22 is a great gun, lots of fun, but good luck finding mags for them beyond the two ten rounders that come with it from Century. They are converted/cut down AK .223 mags with .22 feed lips/followers. A bit like an E. Ger 22 AK mag, but E Ger mags don't fit. Nor do Armscor, not at all. (Don't even bother with the latter...) You might be able to dremel out the mag well of the WASR 22 to make some E Ger mags fit, but if you mess it up, you've got a messed up receiver. I bought some E Ger mags from some very nice merchants on gunbroker.com, but the mags didn't fit, so they graciously gave me my money back. Enjoy the WASR 22- I love mine! |

Centerfire has them for $189. www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=861 Well don't know if it's a century, but it's a .22. |
The one listed there is not a WASR 22. That is a Phillipino manufactured firearm. As far as the WASR's go...I love mine!!! I bought mine at my local Dunham's sports a little over a year agao when they were first getting imported. I payed $200. |

When new, reliability problems persisted on mine. Accuracy was pretty good, so I decided to "play" with it. As far as the East German mags go, if you have the time, they can be made to work. After opening up the magwell (roughly the same size as a standard AK mag) you next knock out the cross rivets to lower the .22 insert. The original plastic mags will still work just fine and can still be used while you modify the East German magazines. As so far modified, they will hold less than the 15 & 20 rounds they are supposed to. To achieve full capacity and allow the floorplate to "catch" in the 15 round position, you must chop some of the .22 magazine insert off at the bottom and lop off some of the floorplate. (these mags telescope between 15 & 20 round positions) Pushing the .22 insert, along with the assembled fullsized mag up against the bolt will give you a ballpark dimension for feeding. Do not drill & re-rivet until you are sure everything works as it should. Yes, it's a project but I'm happy with the results and they look like a typical 30 round AK mag when firing. |
| I have the AKT98 varient, same bbl and operating mech. Groups like a std 10/22 but a much niver fcg pull and evil style points. Also good sight picture practice while knocking old golf balls around the field. Got mine from SOG the other year. Get spare mags while you can, they are unique. |
