I'm pretty sure that some of the older WASR-10's might have been put together using issued parts in some cases.  It looks to me like the latest batch of GP 10/63's are pretty much all numbers matching rifle's.  Anyone know for sure if they are all being built from new/unissued kits now?  What should we be looking for to verify that the parts aren't used, especially the barrels?

It looks like they are parts from previously assembled rifles, demilled and remanufactured on WASR receivers. Mine is an 86, looked to be unfired, but that may not be the case with all of them. If it looks too worn, don't buy it.

Yeah, I see that they must have had new receivers put on them (no dimples).  The four that I looked at today looked pretty nice and were numbers matching from what I could tell after field stripping them in the store.  Just wanted to make sure they hadn't been issued and used for a while prior to going through some kind of re-arsenal process.

I would be willing to bet that a lot of them have been used.

FWIW, the one I picked up from AIM last month has all matching numbers and is from 1984.

Both of mine looked new. I got one a few years back and another in 2007.

Check for pitting UNDER the finish on all metal parts that are likely to corrode (except the receiver).
Check the condition of the bore.
