[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What's your favorite 5.45 cheap blasting non-corrosive ammo ?

I've got a bunch of 7n6, but I'm looking for some cheap decent blasting ammo, that's non-corrosive.

Looking at SG ammo, etc, for 500-1000 rounds

I typically shoot silver bear but the golden tiger has been good in the past but I have not heard about this batch.

Golden Tiger is supposed to be the closest in velocity as 7n6

I can tell you that the Wolf 5.45 is way under powered.

I bought two cases of the Golden Tiger. GT in 7.62x39 has been my go-to ammo for a decade now. Good stuff. If this 5.45 shoots that well, I will be very pleased.

I shot some Wolf Military out of my SLR104-FR, and it worked fine. 100% function. I didn't shoot for groups, so I can't say if it was the same as 7n6 or not, but I imagine it wasn't.

Guys are getting good results from the new batch of Golden Tiger over on the AK files

This is the info you seek on the GT velocities and other factory loads of 5.45

Sort of depends on what I'm doing. For short to somewhat mid range (up to 100, maybe 150yds) Tula goes bang every time. However, where holdovers and such become critical GT is great.

Shot some of the New Golden Tiger last weekend, worked great, but, it is very nasty. I am still cleaning my rifle. 100 rounds fired, and this is dirty stuff. Anyone else see this

My money goes on the Golden Tiger being 175- 300 more fps than any of the other brands in that pic

I had a ton of the Ulyanovsk 70 gr stuff that was around back in the day that was more accurate than any other load out of either of my 74s. I sold the last of it a year or two ago when I sold my AKs off.

ETA: not my pic but it was this stuff.

The GT is pretty damn close in velocity to 7n6. The others not so much

I've been mainly shooting the wolf lacquer and sealant stuff out of my 74s since the 7n6 ban, but have meaning to pick up some Golden Tiger. It's been my go to 7.62x39 ammo for a while now, so I'm interested in trying their 5.45.

Have not bought in a while, but Hornady Steel Match 5.45 is my favorite.
