Which do you prefer... Like better/ dislike etc... A side-folding stock or and underfolding stock on an AK? Reasons/ Opinions? Thanks tim |

just my opinion... russian plastic side folder: most comfortable and best shooting folder. kinda fugly. russian/bulgarian triangular steel side folder: good comfort and reasonable cheek weld. i like the looks of this stock. hungarian amd wire side folding stock: worthless lump of steel. great for bump firing from the hip. uncomfortable and useless for getting you face next to. good looking. east german/romanian wire side folding stock: see the hungarian amd conmments. pressed steel underfolding stock. poor cheek weld, uncomfortable for all-day shooting sessions. loosens up at the joints with use. good looking. |

I saw my first ChiCom side folder yesterday. It looked like a good solid piece. Had the bakelite insert, bakelight funky shaped pistol grip (felt good, just looked strange) and bakelite handguards. The cheek weld was okay and usable. Not as quite good as the Romanian wood stock next to it, but still good enough and usable. Held up both to compare. And in my humble opinion, while the underfolder is probably the most worthless type of folder it scores the highest cool factor points. |
| I agree, everyone needs at least one underfolder! While sidefolders and underfolders are less comfortable than a standard wood stock,I don't find them un-comfortable.Folding stock Aks are really handy in a vehicle,I carry one in the front seat of my jeep quite often. |

K-Var sells them for $94.99. Personally, I consider its installation to be a gunsmith job. www.k-var.com/product.asp?0=270&1=271&3=69 |
