I got to shoot an underfolder AK, and now I want one, but which one? I don't really want to spend more than $600, but I want something that will be good quality. |
|
I'm also shopping around for an underfolder and have been considering this: Yugo M70AB2 with 2-30 round mags for $419 www.classicarms.us/index.html |
Whichever you buy, BUY IT IN PERSON and check it out yourself. I would never blindly buy ANYTHING online, unless I knew what to expect. With ANY built up AK's you never know what you're really getting, especially with a CAI product. If you have to spend a few extra bucks at a gunshow or a gunshop I would and pick out the best one. I've seen some of the worst rear trunion positioning on the CAI Yugo's. I've seen some stocks dangling 1" off the bottom of the handgaurd when folded, that is totally unacceptable. I'd be more prone to buy a Vector then a CAI anyday... |
IT'S C.I.A. DAMMIT!!! |

I am leaning towards the Vector right now since I like the more traditional look, and I heard they were a bit lighter in weight. There is also the Polish underfolder that Atlantic Firearms has. LINK I e-mailed them, and they told me they are built on Armory USA/Global Trades or DCI receivers by Lancaster Consulting and now have a lifetime warranty. So, between the Polish UF that Atlantic has, and the Vector UF, which do you guys think is the better built AK. Thanks. |

Hello, my first post and just want to say that I believe that most of your high dollar gun store retailers will sell better quality guns than your online stores. They aren't going to buy crap and try to sell them at a premium price to customers that can visually inspect them. I bought my Yugo UF for $480 (still on lay-away) as used but unfired and was superb. I was lucky to find it as the others were going for $600 and they were straight and true also. |

I had a Yugo underfolder and thought it was sort of an oxymoron. I want an underfolder to be compact and light. While the same size as a regular AKMS it definitely has alot more weight due to the heavier barrel and the grenade launching mechanism on the gas block. Plus the wood handguard are larger. I doubt the 1.6mm receiver adds much weight but I'd fiddled with Vector Underfolders and there was a noticable difference. Ended up selling off the Yugo and I'm going to get a Vector. That's just something to keep in mind. However I am interested in the AB1 with the solid wood buttstock. That would be a nice AK. It's just a matter of what you want. The Yugo's do feel solid but they are heavier...and what will the Yugo do that the Vector won't with less weight? I'd go for the vector. It also has a chrome lined barrel, which isn't a big deal since most of us use non-corrosive Wolf ammo, but will give better protection against moisture and neglect. CMS |
| As much as I'm not a Century fan you can't compare the WASR's to the Yugo's. The fit and finish on both I had was fairly good. Both operated flawlessly. I did send one back because I wasn't satisfied with the way the handguards lined up, but thats just me. Both folders had a slight bit of play when extended but nothing major. For the price the Yugo is a good buy. I like the 1.6 mm reciever for the under folder. Just seems a lot stiffer, and I like the extra weight from the reciever and heavier barrel. |
| I don't mean to hijack your thread. I saw a yugo m70ab2 at a local pawn shop and the asking price is 625ish. I went back there today to actually handle it and noticed it's CAI receiver and was wondering if that is a milled version or if it is a stamped version. My wasr is from CAI too, but it states Georgia VT and this uf was etched with st. paul mn. What's with that? The uf did look a lot cleaner in regards to the metal in and around the mag well but I also noticed that quite a few of the different parts all had different serial numbers. Is that normal on these? I like the look and feel of it but don't think I can bring myself to pay that for something from CAI. Any help? |
These comments are what concern me about buying a Century Yugo. No dealers in my area stock these and none of them ever will. They will do a transfer, but they won't stock "evil guns". Therefore, I really don't have much choice but to buy online, sight unseen. So, I would like the option that is the LEAST likely to have any problems. |
| I can tell you my experience with my Yugo UF from Century. It's all good. The weapon itself is built on a DCI (NoDakSpud) stamped receiver, which is one of the best around. The finish is a combination of parkerizing, and some type of spray on finish, which so far is durable. The trigger is a relatively crisp two stage affair that is at least as good as my stock Bushmaster single stage AR-15 trigger. The accuracy and reliability have so far been excellent. No stoppages of any sort, and this was with 5 different types of ammo, and a total of 300 rounds. Accuracy was tested at 100 yds only, because I haven't had time to get to the range and check out longer distances. From the bench, on sandbag rests it will keep S&B steel cased ammo inside of 4", the Wolf steel cased goes 6", Two brands of Chinese will do the same, and Remington and WW SP go into 4". From sitting or kneeling I can keep 10 shots inside the head of an IDPA target, and from offhand (standing) inside the -1 area of the target. It's not a benchrest accuracy rifle, but it wasn't intended to be. I can highly recommend buying one. The only down side was that the front sight base was very slightly canted to the left, and POI was initially out to the right some 8" at 100 yds. Moving the front sight to the right with the front sight tool centered up all groups , with all ammo. I'd buy one now, with the way the political situation seems to be going. |

Good advice above. I have had 5 Yugo AK rifles built by Century and all have been very good builds and great shooters.I've got a fixed stock B1 and two UF's left. And I'm keeping them.If you don't buy an underfolder at these prices(last one cost just $421 in Oklahoma)you'll wish you did if the Demorats take control this November. |
Why did they change their name around, too many lawsuits?? Doing a Hesse thing eh? |
