I am thinking about sending my AK off to have the barrel threaded. Does anyone know of someplace that does this for a reasonable price. Buddy of mine is a machinist. Wonder if he could do it with the right tap and die? |
| If you can get the FSB pins out you can tap the sight back about 1/2'' and then thread the barrel correctly with a threading kit rented on the EE. Put the FSB back in place, put the rear pin in, install the detent pin through the front hole for it, reinstall your front pin to hold it. Screw your muzzle attachment on and you are done. 15 minutes. |
| Terry at Tejas Gun Werks is threading my AK 102 barrel for $25 in 1/2x28. www.Tejasgunwerks.com |

What kind of flash hider do you plan to install? You could probably get A2 style flash hiders in 7.62x39 cal for a 7.62 AR that would work. Or I suppose you could have any AR flash hider opened up some. I saw a 7.62x39 birdcage that I want. That is what made me want to do this in the first place. |

That looks pretty crazy. I have a pin-on ak74 style break now. It looks OK but I hate the way it gets big at the base in order to slide over the sight. It would look much better if it was a real ak74 muzzle break that threaded on. If I thread this barrel it will probably get a flash hider. Just to make it more evil. Since my MAK doesn't throw much fire anyways. My AR before the flash hider was a different story though. It would temporarly blind me from the fire ball. |
