to give the new SSR-85 a try??

I'm getting rid of my WASR and trying to see my options for a decent AKM for around $400.

I dont want a 74, 5.56 for me in that area.

I use to think so, the 5.56 bullet is superior to the 74 round. But I just got a 74 and it very cool. It's just fun shooting it.
