Any tips to wrapping a sidefolder.

I'm trying to use this technique, but I'm not having much luck:

I can't get the loop back through, It's too hard to pull though.

That's the way I did mine , turned out great!  Leave the free end long enough to wrap around your boot and use both hands to pull.

If it is tight and hard to pull that is good, it will last much longer that way.  I use vice grips to pull the free end.  You could also try tying the free end to something sturdy like a hammer handle and pull on that.  The cord will move about 1-2mm each pull.  In my experience the cord will stretch quite a bit as you first start pulling, don't be afraid to let this happen.  The longer you leave the loop, the longer it will take to get all the slack out though.

Well, I just snapped 550lb paracord with pulling with my hands.

I must have wrapped it too tight.  I got half of it though.  I must be a beast.

yeah maybe you are a beast!  I can't imagine breaking 550 cord.  I wrapped my last stock in much weaker cord and didn't break it so maybe I need to lift some weights.  I hope you got plenty of cord left.  Add just a bit of finesse next time...

+1

I have done multiple stocks with this method and it works great, nice tight fit.

FWIW, if you you are wrapping a Romy style wire side folder, a section of 3/8 fuel line slipped over the stock prior to wrapping makes for a really good cheek weld. I kept the slit side of the  fuel line on the side against the receiver and had no clearance issues.

I used that with some foam rubber underneath it for my Romanian folder. Wrapped it tight enough that you can't even tell there is anything under the paracord. It's still a wire folder, but is noticeably better to shoot too.

Can we see some pics of this?  I'm interested in doing it to my Bulgy 74 side folder

You could always use the Russian method: field tourniquet and about 30 seconds of your time.  Believe it or not, makes for a very comfortable cheek weld.

Thank for the tip on 3/8 fuel line. I just happen to have a piece laying around

I used 3/16" black bungee cord.  Worked great.

I've done exactly what your diagram shows except using a separate piece of 550 cord for the pull loop.
I only bothered to use about an inch / inch and a half "tail" to pull though works very well for me.
Though I got a little carried away with the match in melting the end of the "tail" to keep it from fraying.
Started off planning to put the "tails" on the inside but with the cross section being c shaped the over wrapping cords wouldn't put enough pressure on the "tails" to hold them in place.
Also vice grips make for a much easier pull through.

I'm in the same boat.  I wrapped it REAL tight, so maybe I did it too much so.  How do you hold the cord to begin with?  Just a small piece of tape loosely holding it at the bottom only?  I got it all the way wrapped, and the cord pulled through the loop, but can't pull the free end AT ALL!

Well I didn't break mine though, just can't get it to pull through.  lol

under the cordage will rust like crazy trapping all your sweat.  use a silicone wrap called "rescue tape" underneath first.  The on the last end that can't pull though, I wrap with the rescue tape as well for a clean finish and to prevent unraveling.  The tape has no adhesive, and bonds to itself for a non-gooey seal.

If you insist on having it tucked through, don't wrap it so tight.  Then after you pull the loose end through about 10 coils, tighten up the wraps with some needle nose pliers and then trim.
