Sadly, I haven't shot my M76 recently. Still like it plenty, just have other rifles competing for my attention these days. Need to get re-acquainted with it soon. Got plenty of ammo for it, no good reason for not shooting it much. My PSL languishes in the safe. I really need to sell the thing, it's just money sitting there doing nothing. Pisses me off just thinking about it. You still shooting your M76? If I remember correctly, you had some early problems with it, did you get it squared away? |

The rifle is finally and completely safe and functional thanks to Mario at Piece of History Firearms. Unfortunately Tim at Gewehr Werks left me hangin with a rifle that had long headspace. He refused to honor anymore warranty b/c I had a local guy re-weld HIS bullet guide that snapped off (due to bad tack weld). So you don't like the PSL? And I've already purchased one of those BHA Dragunov stock sets for it. The trigger is miserable. Will polish or put an RSA in it. |

It really suffers in comparison with my two .308 Veprs. My Veprs make me want to sell my PSL. My PSL is parked right next to my Veprs in the safe, and I don't even notice it when grabbing the Veprs to go to the range. |

Well I'm gonna give it a try for a while. I have that stock set, a buddy can help polish the trigger and I have SOOOO much 54r. I was thinking about an SVT40 but a buddy talked me out of it. I would have had to put glass on it and he said quality varied so much.

I just picked up an M70B1 kit ($350). It's pretty spent looking and may need a little attention besides assembly. I like the "battlefield pickup" look. It's kinda far down the road if yta know what I mean. Not really trench art but some carvings and initials here and there. Definitely spent time as someones best friend once upon a time. I was gonna clean and detail the best I could and refinish all but I might just build it as is and have someone do a light or rough relic worn looking bluing to the receiver (if that's even possible). Would kinda do honor to the former soldier to whom it was issued - I think - rather than trying to tacticool or restore it.
Problem is the bore is kinda rough. Does well on the bullet test and the rifling is pronounced and sharp but it is dark and course in there. Wish there was a way to share the inside of the bore with others for opinions. I'd hate to be looking at a new barrel. Then I really would have to refinish it I think. |

Either, I personally do not favor one over the other. I own both. Whichever one moves you. The milled rifle does have a certain cool factor that is hard to overlook however.
