I just picked one up today and (foolish me) I didn't try the trigger.

It seems to be slipping off the sear/hammer surfaces so the hammer doesn't fall.

If I push the trigger slightly to the left as I am pulling to the rear, it seems to catch it OK and the hammer will fall.

KBI says they have a warranty, and the gunshop might swap it out but, I thought if someone had any suggestions...?

Thanks.

ALL OF THIS WITH THE GUN UNLOADED.

Pop the trigger group out of the rifle, and remove the stock.

Now, reattach the trigger group, without the stock, and look at it from the rifle's left side.

With the bolt in battery (AGAIN, UNLOADED!), squeeze the trigger slowly and look in the little "peep" hold just under the hammer pivot.

Based on your description of the problem, you should see the trigger bar approaching the sear and JUST sliding under it.  Its supposed to approach the sear and push it. If its going under the sear with the bolt in battery, the trigger bar is either bent or the trigger group wasn't matching to the rifle (do the serial numbers match).

If its the later problem, you can remove a TINY (TINY) bit of material from the top of the bolt follower disconnector (the little angled arm that sticks up from the frong of the grup) until the trigger bar lines up properly with the sear while the bolt is in battery. Test this with the GUN FULLY STOCKED and not in the diagnostice view I described above. If you take off too much material the gun won't fire anymore and you'll be buying new parts.

Good luck.

PS:   One thing that consistently causes "bent" trigger bars is garage gangsters trying to convert the SKS to full auto.  If I were you, I'd have a qualified smith inspect the hammer lobe disconnector, the rebound disconnector, the bolt follower disconnection, the hammer and the the sear on the weapon to make sure some idiot hasn't been grinding on things.

Good luck.
