I have an opportunity to buy a used underfolder that looks brand new. The receiver says Zastava ... Yugoslavia. Don't remember other markings.
The bolt and thumb catch are both milled and chromed (looked like one piece possibly), if that means anything. What else should I look for to determine if it is a "good one" or not? What price range I should pay for it? Sorry for my ignorance. I've never owned a Yugo. Any help is greatly appreciated. |
| Price range, to a large extent, is determined by the origin/builder of said rifle. Pre-ban American Arms or Mitchells command big dollars since they were imported as complete rifles (factory new). Then there are the home builds, professional builds (Red Jacket, POHF, Overland, etc.), and the Century-contracted rifles. Although the Century rifles can be quite good, they are considered by many (myself included) to be the bottom of the barrel quality-wise. |

It turned out to be a Century build. I bought it and took it to the range. It's actually a pretty good shooter and the finish looks nice.
Are there any parts I should look to upgrade? It has the G2 trigger group already. What about firing pin, springs, gas piston, etc? |

It's a great gun right out of the box assuming that it shoots to point-of-aim (one of mine shot 18" right at 50 yards - I returned it to Century and they made it right). If you paid anything less than $700. you did fine on the price. |
