It is corrosive.

If you shoot it,save the strippers. They are much better than the ones that are available now.

You will likely find this ammo to be very accurate, it sure is in my Polytech.

I might take it to a gunshow in a few months. What should I ask for it? Or better yet, what is the top dollar amount or take no less amount? I appreciate all the help.

The last gunshow I was at had 1 case of Norinco steel core.  He was asking 50 cents a round and didn't seem to be selling much.  I would not pay that for it, especially being corrosive.  Normal price seems to be around 30 cents per round, and that sells.

Your lowest price should be based on how much you paid for it.  If I had some to sell, I'd probably ask 30 cents (figuring I paid less than that).  Someone will probably buy it.

I just looked at a sale ad on here and found this. WOW! It would be nice if I could get that much a round.

It's worth what the market will bear. I'd never pay 50 cents a cartridge, but I have several cases of Chinese steel core I bought in the late '80s. I've seen people ask $10.00 for ten cartridges on a stripper. I don't know if they ever sold any. You need to decide whether it's more important to get maximum price or to move the merchandise and set the price according to your priorities.

Wasn't the only reason that stuff was steel core was because it was cheaper than lead?

Yeah, pretty much.

Can you cite a source for your information on why the various governments used steel for the core?

I'd like that question answered also.

I thought the steel core AK ammo was sort of banned.  Is it?

The importation of steel core 7.63 x 39 ammunition was banned when someone made a pistol in that caliber, since the ATF declared that it was "AP". It is not illegal to own.

Am I naive? The Norinco boxes describe the ammo as non-corrosive. AK47 ammo

The first post in this thread asked about copper washed cased cartridges packed on stripper clips in cans. All that ammunition is corrosive. The ammunition which was manufactured for commercial sale and packed in boxes was non-corrosive.

I saw a 1500 round case going for $215 on one of the auction sites.

I don't recall the Chinese ever packing 1500 cartridges in a case. I recall 1000, 1100, and (I think) 1440.
