5.56, so that when the AK shoots like shit, atleast I can still use the ammo in my AR.

5.45 for me.....

you forgot the 308
its like an ak on roids

i have to say the best is 7.62 tho
thats just from a cost standpoint me = poor

If you haven't shot the 5.45 x 39mm round yet........you have NO idea what you are missing. Half the recoil of the 5.56 and twice as deadly at close range.

7.62 cheap ammo, good round, plentiful mags, what else could you ask for

I think the coolest one is the 8mm zastava rifle personally.

if only I had that kind of money......

i dont have a 5.45 yet but will this spring but have shot them and they are awesome but the 7.62 is economical and so are the mags and i have never shot the 5.56 but im sure its awesome too. So ill say i like all three

5.45 for me as I no longer have an AK in 7.62x39.

Expensive rifle but super cheap ammo.

I was actually indifferent as to caliber , stuck with 7.62 mainly because it was cheap ,
and more 7.62 AKs available at the time.

Then I shot a 7.62 FA Krinkov at Bulletfest IV

7.62x51mm NATO, just 'cause that's my favorite caliber, but otherwise the 7.62x39mm, then the 5.45mm, then the 5.56mm.

And how can we forget the 7.92x57mm and the 7.62x54mmR??

Should I go with 5.45 HP or FMJ?

5.45 simply because the recoil is so much less.  I don't plan on having to use it in a combat situation, so I could'nt care less about all that other stuff.

Very true. The closest combat I will ever get to doesnt fire back.....paper targets. For that reason alone I shoot the 5.45.

7.62x39 here, thats all I got.  I sold the SAR2 before I shot it

Cause...........I like the bigger bullets.

5.45x39 makes more sense in an assault rifle than a 7.62x39 round. There will always be "scenarios" where one will be better than the other, but 5.45x39 is better all around for most things under 200 yards.

7.62x39
First, it's the original, but more than that, I live in a thickly forested area and 7.62 will penetrate a lot of wood

Go ahead and hide behind the trees MoFo..!

original--casuse its more available and cheaper

I pick the Saiga 12 first, then 7.62x39mm.  The Saiga 12 is my favorite.  I like these calibers because they are cheap and plentiful.  I'm a poor government employee so cost is the main factor.

Had 'em all, liked 'em all - but I must admit that the 5.45 is starting to win me over...

Heck, I even have a 5.45x39mm AR now (of course, I've got two 7.62x39mm ARs... hmmmmm )

Anyone shoot an slr105r without the brake. Is it still negligble recoil. Hard to believe it is even less than a 5.56!

7.62x39 Its cheap fun and decent ammo makes it a great little deer rfle
