Yes, i'm an idiot, but enough about me, what is this bump that everybody talks about.

The bump is what happens when Richard Simmons meets Sigmund and Roy.

Anyway, they're talking about bump firing. This is where you can take a semi-auto AK and turn it into a hip fired automatic weapon...LEGALLY.

How so? Well, you basically hold the front handguard on with your life, and you try to keep the gun from going back and recoiling. You basically use this mechanism to allow the gun to pull the trigger for you, VERY FAST.

Here's a better description from linx310.nothingbutguns.com/bump.htm, which is a great resource for Romanian AKs:

"First you hold the rifle at the right side of your hip. Once in place you put your trigger finger in front of the trigger(finger must be straight). The hand you are shooting with must not hold the pistol grip or any part of the rifle. To fire you pull the rifle forward with the hand holding the front hand guard. If you do it correctly your trigger finder should come in contact with the trigger because the rifle is being pulled forward. Once the rifle starts firing keep pulling the rifle forward with your hand that is holding the front of the rifle. Rember one must keep pulling the rifle into your straight trigger finger, you should not move you trigger finger into the trigger. This might seem a little weird so I included a page with a animated gif of me bump firing and a downloadable video of my dad bumping an almost an entire clip at night (filmed with a night vision camera.)"

WARNING!!!  make sure you keep your thumb tucked in.  It hurts like a sonofa... when the charging handle slams into your thumb.

I found if you loosly grasp the pistol grip(real loose) with the trigger finger planted, you can control it a little better. Course I am a noob to Da'bump.

With a little practice you can do it from the shoulder an get semi-nice groups at 65 meters out . I hear cyclic rate is actually a little faster than the fully automatic versions of the millitary . I have done it from the prone position as well but it was at night time into the side of a mountain , all i saw were sparks :)

Here's a video I took of myself bump-firing.  I fired 34 rounds.  I tried to fire all 40, but I'm a beginner (that was my first day and fifth try of bumping), so it took six shots to get going.

The cool part of the bump is that it can be applied to a variety of arms. In addition to my SLR-95, I have also bumped my M1 Carbine, FAL, and my AR15. Thank God my Ferret 50 is only a single shot . I once tried to bump a 12 guage shotgun, damn, that hurt.
