hey guys, when i try to fire the ak and keep the trigger held down until after the bolt cycles forward in order to reset it at the shortest point before the next shot, the item marked with the arrow is sticking causing the trigger not to be reset. i have to manually push the trigger forward to get it to the reset point. any suggestions? it is a tapco single hook trigger. (it basically fels like the trigger springs are not working correctly). i have put about 500 flawless rounds through the gun so far. it is a saiga 762x39.

The hammer spring under the red arrow isn't in the right spot. It should be seated on the trigger like the other side. If that doesnt fix it then take out the FCG and check to see that the disconnector spring didn't somehow get dislodged. The thing the arrow is pointing to is your disconnector.

.

Yup.  Once both legs of your hammer spring are seated correctly (a 2 second operation) it will stop binding in there.

Here's a tutorial in disassembly and reassembly of the fcg.

It also looks like the spring might be lodging between the disconnector and the trigger which would cause the disconnector to bind and not work correctly as well.

and if neither of those most excellent replies does it, remove trigger pin and check to make sure the disconnector spring in in the right place, and isn't all gummed up (which I doubt from looking at your pics, looks clean in there). the spring can sometime "walk" when trying to insert the trigger pin.

ok, thank you guys. i fixed it. not sure why it did that in the first place.

is there a better trigger on the market other than tapco and should i polish it to smooth the action out?

IMO for the price you can't beat The G2, especially when you polish the metal on metal contact points.

The most frequent cause of that problem is installing the safety after the trigger and disconnector are in place. The tab on the lever wipes the leg of the spring off the back of the trigger.
