after @ 2 years im finally getting this one done. its funny. this was the first home made gun project i started and i finished my mp5 and then my 1919 and now this one is almost done.

i forgot to get a semi spring retainer but now its ordered, and i want to do a couple more coats of shellac on the lower hand gaurd but i thought i would post a pic.

"

and for those that notice, yes there are screw for the center support. a buddy and i tried riveting the center support and it tweaked the rec so since i already had the screws i figured i would go with it. i can always swap those out late. the finish is aluma-hyde II semi.

"

and does anyone have a junk stuck???? when i took mine apart 2 yrs ago to refinish the would........yeah, i cant find any of the hardware? i was just going to buy the end cap and screws along with the sling part. but, i cant find the end cap for sale anywhere. and i dont feel like buying a nice stock i dont need. but i would pay a couple bucks for a cheapy.....

Looks good, did you cut the foward grip off? If so, I did the same, and it looks good also.

I made the mistake of trimming my ejector too short on my current AK74 build ... I welded up a new one, but after test firing yesterday found it still not ejecting. Tried to add a dot of weld to make it a bit longer and evaporated the entire ejector.

So I just gave up, cut it into pieces, and I am starting from scratch

Today is not my day... but anyway, my point, do NOT grind it too short if you haven't trimmed it yet ... check and triple check, it's a hard error to recover from.

You did a good job, what kind of muzzle brake do you have on there.

tapco slant brake.

im hoping it ejects ok. i had a friedn helping with the rails and we acidently bumped the ejector with the spot welder.....
i cycled it by hand and it ejects ok (no firing pin of course).

only real test will be live fire.

oh, and my kit orig came with the donkey piece and when i refinished the wood i did that piece. but, a buddy gave me the smooth one and i had only put one coat of the amber shellac on it  but want to see what it looked like. so it needs 3 more coats to be as dark as the other wood. i used 0000 steel wool between coats and after the last coat. smooth as butter and knocks a little bit of the shine off.

Nice, yeah from now on Amber shellac for everything for me.. it looks great compared to the rit dye and poly I was using before.  Just shellac on bare wood, 5 coats knocked down with steel wool.

Let us know how it shoots!
