ok guys I called global trades for the windage adjustable back sight for my AK47 and the lady who answered said they MIGHT have some more in 6 to 8 weeks....if they order them again.....I want that sight    anybody know where I can get one now??   my back sight now is good out to 1000m.....does it matter if you buy 1000m sight?  or an 800m sight.....thanks guys

Use sights that are calibrated for your caliber and barrel length.  You cannot use sights that were calibrated for 5.45x39.5 in a 7.62x39 rifle and vice versa.
Check with the vendor before you buy. It is easy to buy wrong calibration rear sights.
Whether the vendors know the calibration is another question.

I got the same answer from Global when I called them about 6 weeks ago.  I finally ended up finding the sight I wanted at a local gun show.  I agree with Richard, if your rifle has an 800m sight, use an 800m windage adjustable and the same goes for a 1000m sight....

not sure on this, i have been told by a smith that the sights on 5.45 and 7.62 rifles are the same, the difference is in the gradient of the sight ramp

This is a quote from this link

world.guns.ru/assault/as02-e.htm

Basically, the small-caliber Kalashnikov assault rifle, officially adopted by the Soviet Army in 1974 as the "5.45mm Avtomat Kalashnikova, obraztsa 1974 goda (AK-74)", was no more than the older AKM, re-chambered for a new round, with very minor modifications. The most visible modification is the large and effective muzzle brake, which further reduces already moderate recoil of the new round, and improves the controllability of the rifle in the full automatic mode. Rear sight, while being of the same old design, was accordingly recalibrated for the new cartridge with much flatter trajectory.

Changing the gradient of the ramp surely would recalibrate the sight. Does anyone have more info on this?

WA Arms Collectors gun show in Puyallup from a dealer that is a regular (sorry, don't remember his name).  Prior to purchasing the 800m adjustable sight I did some research and found that quite a few places had the 1000m sight available including K-Var.  The 800m was harder to find.  If your rifle came with the 1000m sight, this should work...
