Having build a few of these, can I ask what for? I was thinking about making an underfolder stock for my ak, that is just a direct replacement for my wood stock. So that it will be detachable just like the wood furniture. Im pretty good and building stuff like this. what i was thinking was getting the rear section and boxing it in. Then getting something like this http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS165-6.html but have my friend CNC it out of metal for me and modify it so and weld the two sections together. From there ill lenthen the stock if i have to. BTW how long is the pull on an underfolder? Same as the wood stock? |

The UF design is based on sheet metal, and the retaining mechanism has features that depend on the thin wall of the sheet metal receiver. I actually haven't seen the CTD one, but I bet you could make something much better than that. Maybe, order one and then make it better? Also, the CTD block *may* not allow a mag to be in while folding or unfolding the stock. That's something I really don't like about this setup. I might have a print of the hole pattern, and I might have a back end receiver stub, I'll check and let you know. n |

There's about 1 1/4" clearance between the folded "butt plate" and the 30 shot magazine. If you move the pivot point back any more than that (and maybe not that far) the stock won't clear the magazine. It might clear a 20 shot magazine. |

Thats why I was looking for the length of pull of the underfolder. If its somewhat short I could always add an inch or so to it, if not then a small mag would be the easiest solution. |
