I have decided to buy a psop side rail scope for my AK. I dont plan on a 800 meter shot. So with all the choices what whould be a good one for 400m or less with the average shot being 200 or less? I really do not understand all the different styles.

You need the AK bracket, not SVD, and want a std 4x24 or the 2.5-5x24.

You need to decide how much you need to be exact farher out, vs finding targets faster close in.

Any other guns it may be shared with?
Considering a side rail bracket and western tube optic?

I run a POSP 4x24 (400M reticle) and a BP-02/red-dot combo on a couple of my AKs. Both work very well for the conditions you describe.
