| My gun ATI milled ak will double feed about every third shot. The empty case does not clear the bolt before it tries to jamb another round in the chamber. Do I need to replace the extractor? |

The empty case does not clear the bolt Can you elaborate on what you mean by this? Post photos? Is the bolt moving far enough rearward to engage the empty case on the ejector? Are you saying that your problem is the empty casing is not being fully ejected? |
| Sounds like the fired case is being extracted and held by the extractor as it should, but is not striking the ejector which should flip the round out of the extractor's grip and out of the ejection port. Take off the action cover and remove the recoil spring assembly. Load a fired shell case, push the bolt carrier into battery so the extractor claw slips over the case rim and turn the gun over so you can see into the action. Slowly pull the charging handle back to see how the case rim hits the ejector. I admit I don't know how the ejector is made on a milled receiver, but on a stamped receiver its a part of one of the rails. So either the bolt is not retracting far enough for the fired case head to hit the ejector or the ejector is out of spec and the case head misses it. |
