i posted this in the egyptian section but was advised that it would get more results here so...

when i pull the trigger on my maadi, sometimes it fires one shot like it should, and sometimes it rips off 3 , 4, or 5 rounds and then i have to pull the charging handle to eject a round that did not discharge.  now this round will have a mark on the primer like the pin did not strike it hard enough to fire.  after i eject this round it repeats the same process.  you can imagine my frustration, especially when im trying to put accurate shots on paper.  ive thoroughly cleaned everything.  also, i invite all advice and comments but i am pretty much AK illiterate, so please explain abbreviations and jargon.  but as i said, all advice is welcomed.   hat

Check your firing pin.........make sure its free floating....take out the bolt and shake it to hear it go back and forth. Hmmmm............It shouldn't rip off rounds unless the firing pin is forward.......if the hammer wasn't catching it would ride it down and not fire ...check the disconnector spring too.

your rifle has a really tall selector stop
and all the way down on your rifle will be about where the f/a would be on a normal rifle

id say you have a f/a selector in your rifle thats holding back the disconnect

remove the lever and fire a few rounds see if that fixs the prob we can go from there

+1 on Socandyman. The maadi's do have a really high selector stop, check to see if your disconnector has a tab on the back of it. It sounds to me like its not catching your hammer. If you know how the FCG generally works you can remove the DC and Recoil Assembly but leave the bolt and carrier in. work the action and make sure the hammer is getting caught by the disconnector every time.

If you do not want to replace the trigger group the follow these steps:
Your problem is a trigger group, as described previously. But it is not the front hook. It is disconnector.
Here is how your AK trigger group works.

Imagine the gun in a loaded state.
1. Your hammer is held in position by your sear (trigger, and front hook).
2. You fire the rifle by pressing the trigger (releasing the sear).
3. Hammer strikes the bolt and fire rounds.
4. Bolt carrier goes back.
Choice:
A. Your finger is still on the trigger, and disconnector is in forward position and it supposed to catch the hammer.
B. Your finger already released the trigger and trigger catches the hammer.

If choice A then what is supposed to happen is when you actually release the trigger, the hammer has to jump up from disconnector to sear. Your problem starts here, your hammer is not being held by disconnector, so it follows the bolt carrier to home position and strikes the next round.

What you have to do is witness this problem multiple times on an unloaded gun, which is done by pressing and releasing your trigger slowly. If you do it correctly you will witness that at some position of the trigger, there is a SWEET spot. SWEET spot is a position of the trigger in which the disconnector isn't forward enough to can't the hammer, and the trigger isn't rear enough to catch it either (this may not occur while playing with the gun normally, it might only occur if you press the trigger slowly enough to catch that SWEET spot).

To fix this trigger group you must first witness it on your own gun, to know which part to file. Then you most likely will have to:
a. file the bottom of the forward leg of the disconnector to make it look more forward
b. file the bottom nose of the disconnector to make the nose higher.

I had a similiar issue with my SAR1 after performing a trigger job on it. What was happening was that the trigger was so light it was causing the gun to bump fire off my shoulder, then have a light hit. I took the easy route and replaced the trigger group with a Tapco G2. Problem solved.

Maybe your's is worn out?

so this is an old thread but today i had another guy shoot my rifle and he suggested i replace the trigger group.  i ordered a tapco g2 group for 39.84 after shipping, is this a good price or a good trigger group, what do you all think?
