I went to the range today and the Silver Bear soft point aMMO was keyholing on the target. This is the second time I have shot it and I don't remember it happening with the hollowpoint ammo I used the first time. Has anyone experienced this? I am hpoing it ia a short barrel thing rather than a barrel/crown issue. |

If it's an AMD 65, it may be hitting the funky brake set up Only if it an after market brake, the original ones work fine. I'd try other ammo first. And it would be nice to know what gun you have. Yes, both the original brake and the Tapco one-piece brake and extension are fine, but he was referring to the TGI-built AMD-65s with the 2" pipe extension and original brake. They managed to get many of these (including mine) installed so they are not concentric with the bore. I haven't seen or heard of one bad enough that the bullet hit it, and I doubt it's happening, but jefro was correct in mentioning it as a possibility. I'm starting to think the OP is just a troll anyway - probably laughing his ass off at our ridiculous attempts to solve it with no clues. |
| Do you think the bullet is hitting the muzzle brake? Look for copper in the opening. Otherwise, you have either some really bad ammo or a very shot-out barrel. I have the same gun, along with quite a few other people, and I haven't heard of any bad barrels being installed on these kits. Wait - is it the original Hungarian barrel? If so, the front sight base would be directly in front of the gas block - only about 1/4" in-between. |
