I just finished a M72

The leaf spring is worn out, the rear sight is very loose, so I need a replacement spring.
KVAR has 3 different ones in stock Romanian, Bulgarian, and E.G.; would any of them work? or do I need a specific one?

thanks for any input

take your leaf spring out,put it in a vise and put a bend in it..it will spring again..

How does it come out? Looks like it has a small detent or rivet at the back.

It has a small detent. I will try bending it, but it's pretty far gone, you can pull the thing out by hand without the rear sight installed.

the detent can be used to put a screw driver or something similar into it to pry/slide it out.those leaf springs are pretty tough.a little bend and it should be as good as new..

lift up with a pair of pliars

and yes, I saved one  just by rebending it in a vise. seems to be keeping its tension still too

Thanks for the replies. I'll try bending it when I get home. I'd really rather not buy a $4 part and pay $10 for shipping anyways

Haven't done it on a Commie spring, but you can stress-relieve most springs by heating to around 325* for +/- 10 minutes.  Helps keep them from stress-fracturing.

Thanks for the help. I bent the spring - it works fine now.

Why didn't I think of that?
