Is it normal for the us slanted muzzle brakes not to fit tight against the barrel?

If I tighten it up all the way, it goes past the retaining(?) pin.  I have to loosen it about 3/4 turn to have it "click" in place.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm totally new to AK's.

Yeah, they don't need to be tight. The retaining pin keeps them from coming off, while also holding them at the correct angle.

Quick Draw, Is your fh/brake loose, when it locks into the detent pin? As in it wiggles around on the barrel muzzle threads.

I put a small O ring under mine just to take the wiggle out.  Has been there for thousands of rounds with no problems.

Yes, there is going to be some "wobble", both side to side and up and down.  Everything on an AKM is kinda loose.  One of the reasons they work so well.
