| Im thinking of getting me a romak and was wondering what you guys think of them are they pretty good guns for the money?? i know they are not pin point shooting guns but i figure i could have funwith one shooting paper targets at couple hundred yards. I see that you could get them in .308 also which cal do you recomend in the romak? 7.62x54R or the .308? are they pretty reliable guns? also which scope would be the best for it? thanks again and sorry for all the questions |
Go for 7.62x54R. The mags for the .308 version are really flimsy compared to the originals. Besides, If you are looking for a $700 semi-precision rifle thats cheap to shoot, get the Romak 3. If you want a $700 precision rifle thats going to be more accurate but more expensive, get a Rem 700 Police. Just my $.02...

Find any spare .308 mags???? 54r corr surp, swab chunks, hose out, blow dry, finsih clean, spray oil Needs the SVD clamp, $80 Romy 4x24 also has a 54r cammed elevation dial, but I not had a shot at it past 100yds yet (new to me). Fair value, just have not bonded with mine yet. |
| thanks for all the info guys i appreciate it, im new to the ak scene and was wondering what is the best russian scope to have on it? ive searched around and found a picitinny mount for the ak reciever and was wondering if a super sniper or similiar scope would work on this rifle?? what is the newest russian scope out there any one know? |
cool thanks for the info, is the new russian talon scope easy to find? |
I've owned the Romak-3 and now own several .308 NDM-86's. Until they come out w/decent lightweight 7.62x54 match ammo I wouldn't spend too much on optics or go the picatinny route on the Romak-3. IMHO your best choices for optics are the POSP 8x42D w/Dragunov reticle, POSP 8x42D Pro w/mildot reticle & .5moa adjustments or the 1P21 3x9 w/BDC for the 7.62x54 (not as precise as the other 2 but very fast to range/hit for "minute of torso" accuracy, I use one on one of my NDM-86's). Get a trigger job (or RSA adjustable trigger) and try different '54 loads to find out which one(s) your Romak-3 likes the best. W/my Romak-3 I could consistently hit the 18" gong at 500m if I did my part whereas w/the NDM-86 I can consistently hit the 36" gong at 900m if I do my part. HTH, keep us posted... Tomac |
thanks for the reply, i think the adjustable trigger sounds like a fantastic idea and has made me like the idea of getting one even better. I didnt even know they made a 8x42 posp in mildot! learn something everyday. thanks again |
